Jellyroll Kicks Off 2011!

We may only be a couple months in to the new year, but Jellyroll has been especially busy with some unique and high profile events.  In January, Jellyroll kicked off the new year by performing at an amazing wedding at the Phoenixville Foundry where Brian Kappra and the Evantine staff created one of the coolest scenes the band has ever seen.  Jellyroll also helped make January wedding dreams come true at the Crystal Tea Room and the Curtis Center for some new friends.

Jellyroll did not limit performances to weddings, however. They offerred their musical talents to many fundraising events as well. In appreciation of the hospitality industry and Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau 's past president, Tom Muldoon, Jellyroll braved a 20 inch snow storm to lend their talents to an amazing event at the Sheraton in Philadelphia .  Jellyroll helped raise over $120,000 for Tom Muldoon’s Field Of Dreams, an inner city baseball field where underprivileged children can find a safe place to play, while learning  the importance of being part of a team.  Jellyroll's bandleader grew up in Philadelphia and has three little boys of his own, so this event had personal meaning and offered him the perfect chance to “give back” to the community.  Thanks to Tom and the PCVB staff for this opportunity!

Delivering a successful performance is incredibly important to all BVT bands, and being recognized for our success is very satisfying.  Perhaps the best recognition is being asked back for repeat performances, and thank you to the Philadelphia Auto Dealers Association for bringing Jellyroll back as headline entertainment at the "Black Tie Preview Gala" at the Philadelphia Auto Show for over 1,000 guests.  This was the fourth time in six years that Jellyroll headlined this well attended gala that benefits the Children‘s Hospital of Philadelphia .  BVT’s Back2Life also performed during the cocktail reception along with Lou Lanza’s Jazz Trio and Tony Forliano’s Jazz Trio .

Another Jellyroll honor was to perform at this year’s Canuso Foundation Gala at the Atrium At The Curtis Center .  Late last year, Joe Volpe of Cescaphe, introduced the band to an amazing man, John Canuso, of The Canuso Foundation.  John’s foundation has raised over $2,000,000 over the last 37 years, in honor of his daughter, Babe, for pediatric cancer research.  The 2011 Gala was attended by over 300 guests – Thanks to John Canuso and Joe Volpe for the introduction.

Jellyroll and BVT’s largest charitable and community service project is, without a doubt, their participation as the live entertainment sponsor at the Philadelphia Flyers Wives Fight For Lives annual Carnival held at the Wells Fargo (formerly Wachovia) Center .  Jellyroll rocked the main stage at this years’ 34thAnnual Carnival along with Back2Life and Group Therapy .  Jellyroll's bandleader, Kurt Titchenell, was even afforded an onstage interview with Flyer’s TV announcer Steve Coates.   With the Flyers recent success and high hopes for another Stanley cup, the Wells Fargo was packed with excited fans.  Performing at the Wells Fargo Center for such a great cause is an amazing feeling!

Another very notable performance took place as Jellyroll performed for the staff of the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia , at their annual employee party in the newly decorated Ballroom.  BVT values their relationship as a preferred business partner with the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, and it was great to see their hard working staff enjoying themselves!

As busy as the band was, they still found the time to embark on one of the most exciting projects that they have been involved in for years.  Along with our other BVT dance bands, Jellyroll completed their latest video.  Preview the Jellyroll clip here!

2011 has already been an eventful and jam-packed year and its only March!  Stay tuned for even more exciting blog posts and news as the year continues!
